The example assumes 10,000 kWh/year of gas use, 70% existing boiler efficiency and heat pump SCOP 3.0, giving about 2,333 kWh/year of heating electricity. Solar generation is 846 kWh/year, all used at home with no export credit. Cooling assumes a 1 kW average electrical input for four hours a day over 120 days (480 kWh/year).
Reference tariffs are 25.34p/kWh for electricity and 7.3p/kWh for gas, not current quotations. Actual usage, performance and solar self-use vary. At 50% solar self-use, the pamphlet estimates a net saving of £124.29/year (£10.36/month). Other household usage and fixed charges are unchanged.
